  Tonight I disassociated myself - after 24 years - had 2 hour meeting with Elder

  i am now sitting at home.

  my wife left with my little child.

  my fault (i dislike the word "fault", but don't have a better one right now).. it feels strange, relieved and free, at the same time it was all very strange.

  Been working out for well me after 5 months of being disassociated. My wife hasn’t left, in fact our marriage is the best in our life now. Some family members have joined us on this venture. We don’t have to look over our shoulder, afraid someone is looking for us to take a false step. Free at last, free at last. God Almighty...

  We have to continue to care about the abuse victims of these horrible cults, and to continue to stand up for them. Charge the parents as well if they are not doing anything about it! They are part of the abuse. Wow, I never would have thought to include a child-trafficking complaint. Good. And, yes, charge the parents when they don't report. If one of those elders had been attacked, they'd be ready to go to court or call the police. But they won't do that for the child

  Are there more Bethel layoffs in the immediate future?

  i just saw a post on reddit: ‘wt are prepping the r&f for changes in the march/april meeting workbook’.. in the post the person noted what they read (for march 8) and it mentioned bethel adjustments and reference was made to 2015 when bethelites were let go.. if this happens (yet again) another bunch of people are being sent home to fend for themselves in the big bad world at an advanced age with little to no preparation.

  even though this doesn’t surprise me, it could not come at a worse time with a global pandemic and massive job loss everywhere..congregations are already in turmoil because of so many who reached retirement age totally unprepared because they were told armageddon would be here before they reached that age.

  this is in addition to all the other ‘needy’ and troubled types in the congregations looking for as$istance.. i hope any bethelites there have a plan and some people they can contact.

  How much do Elders actually get along with each other?

  i was reading in the shepherding book that elders should “ cul­tivate and maintain friendships with one another.”, and thought to myself “bulls$it!” i remember that most of the elders in my old congregation were nothing but nasty asses.

  i know it may vary from congregation to congregation, but do elders generally get along with each other behind closed doors in elders meetings?

  or, are they often in conflict with each other?

  For 21 years most of us got along pretty good. The only time there were problems when family members of elders got into trouble, then the gloves were off.
